The Benefits of Transformational Breath®

Jon - Radiant Breathwork, 10 October 2023

"Transformational Breath®

is more than a technique;

it's a journey toward

holistic wellbeing."

 Dr. Haifa Al-Dubai

You're interested in breathwork but maybe not sure which method to try or want to know why Transformational Breath® is so powerful? So here we want to share with you some of the benefits.

The importance of breath

Breathing: It's not something you often think about as it's an automatic body function, but it is critical to life! You can live a few weeks without food, a few days without water, but only a few minutes without air.

Given that you breathe every moment of every day, does it not make sense to ensure you breathe as fully and freely as possible?

The way you breathe is integral to your health. Everyone has a unique breathing pattern that influences how they relate to the world and live their lives. You can hold unnecessary tension within your breathing system, which prevents optimal breathing and hinders you from fully experiencing life.

If your breathing is restricted, it may appear as a physical illness, general lack of energy, or feeling emotionally drained. Practising techniques like Transformational Breath® that open the breath can have powerful healing effects on your body, mind and spirit.
Let's look at some of the key benefits of Transformational Breath®, across three levels - Physical, Mental & Emotional and Spiritual.

Physical benefits

Transformational Breath® uniquely incorporates freeing up the restrictions in your breathing pattern using a technique called body mapping, similar to acupressure, and supporting affirmations. A key focus in initial sessions is to encourage a full diaphragmatic breath.

The diaphragm is the muscle below the ribcage designed to help you breathe. Through stress and misuse, it is often not working correctly. Many people use muscles in their back, chest or belly unnecessarily in breathing - which makes for a lot of hard work!

On the physical level, full, connected diaphragmatic breathing has been shown to have a wide range of benefits:

  • Increases oxygenation throughout your body.
  • Helps reduce stress and anxiety by stimulating and helping regulate the vagus nerve and the parasympathetic nervous system.
  • Improves well-being for many conditions and respiratory ailments such as asthma, headaches, low energy, psychosomatic illnesses, anaerobic diseases, and many others.
  • Boosts immunity and increase energy levels.
  • It can also help to enhance the quality of your sleep

Mental and Emotional Benefits

Once the breath is opened and fully activated, your body can let go of trauma (blocked emotional and stored stress) through something called the law of entrainment. This is where lower frequency energy is raised by the presence of higher frequency energy.

Breathing in an open, continuous connected way enables a high vibrational energy to circulate in your body, allowing stuck repressed patterns such as repressed feelings, memories and thoughts to be permanently transformed and integrated. This can include birth trauma, other lifetime traumas, authority and parental issues, self-sabotage patterns, and any other negativity in the subconscious.

Commonly reported emotional and mental benefits of Transformational Breath®:

  • Reduces symptoms of depression and anxiety.

  • Releases and integrates trauma stored in your body and subconscious.

  • Clears patterns of self-sabotage & negative self-talk.

  • Regulates your emotions.

  • Improves mental clarity & focus.

  • Enhances your self-esteem.

Spiritual Benefits

As a result of the integration and clearing of the subconscious through conscious, connected diaphragmatic breathing, many people report a deeper understanding of themselves and their purpose in the world.

You don't have to believe in any particular spiritual practices to reap the benefits of this third level of Transformational Breath®.

Examples of benefits that people often experience include:

  • Greater connection to yourself and others.
  • Opening to higher levels of consciousness.
  • Greater connection to nature.
  • Increased awareness and expression of joy and love.
  • Developing deeper intuition.
